International Operation Clean Sweep Turkiye Representative became PAGEV
PAGEV (Turkish Plastics Industry Research, Development and Education Foundation), which adds value to the Turkish plastics industry with its mission of "responsible industry, problem-free environment", continues its sustainability efforts with "Operation Clean Sweep". PAGEV had included Turkiye in the project by signing the "Operation Clean Sweep" protocol, which is implemented in partnership with the Plastics Industry Association and the American Chemistry Council, within the scope of the 11th Turkish Plastics Industry Congress. The project, which was implemented with the slogan "There is no small thing", aims to collect plastic raw materials spilled on the ground during production or transport and thus prevent them from entering the seas. PAGEV, which undertakes the representation of the project carried out on a global scale in our country, awarded the certificate to Sapro Temizlik Ürünleri San. ve Tic. A.Ş., the first company from Turkiye to join the Operation Clean Sweep movement.
PAGEV, which stands out with its support for sustainable projects in its efforts for the development of the plastics industry, continues to be the voice of the industry in international organisations. PAGEV, which signed the Operation Clean Sweep (OCS) or "Operation Clean Sweep" protocol in Turkish, implemented in partnership with the Plastics Industry Association (SPI) and the American Chemistry Council (ACC), carries out intensive studies to raise awareness of Turkish companies on the subject and to include them in the movement.
PAGEV is the representative of the project carried out on a global scale in Turkiye…
Operation Clean Sweep, a voluntary management program for facilities using plastic materials, aims to prevent plastic raw materials spilled on the ground during production or transportation from entering the seas with the slogan "There is no small thing". Plastic products are produced by melting and shaping plastic raw materials in the form of small granules. During production or transport, these granules can spill on the ground and enter the seas through sewage. The Operation Clean Sweep (OCS) movement provides awareness, training and inspection services to ensure that plastic raw material particles, which also carry economic value, do not pose a danger to marine organisms. PAGEV represents OCS in Turkiye, which has made significant progress with its efforts for a quarter of a century for zero particle, small particle and dust loss in the plastics industry.
PAGEV, which signed the "Operation Clean Sweep" protocol at the 11th Turkish Plastics Industry Congress, carries out intensive work on the Turkish side of the project. The companies involved in the movement, on the one hand, raise awareness on zero particle, small particle and dust loss, and on the other hand, they receive a certificate showing their environmental sensitivity.
Sapro Temizlik Ürünleri Sanayi ve Ticaret A.Ş., one of the world leaders in the wet wipes sector, was the first company in Turkiye to voluntarily participate in this movement and to receive the PAGEV OCS certificate. Sapro, which received its certificate at the event organised by PAGEV, is an international organisation that exports its products to 62 countries and has a wide network of customers, suppliers, environmentalists and groups supporting natural life.
PAGEV President Yavuz Eroğlu said that it is also meaningful and valuable that Sapro, which produces cleaning products, is the first Turkish company to join the OCS movement and added: "As PAGEV, we are working hard for the development of our sectors and the elimination of their problems, and we are also working intensively on environmental issues. Sustainability has an important place in our agenda. The "Operation Clean Sweep" movement has also taken its place among the activities we have carried out in this sense. With Operation Clean Sweep, we tell our companies that "there is no small loss or small waste". When tiny plastic granules come together, they turn into a great economic value, and we prevent such valuable raw materials from entering the sea as waste. Our companies participating in Operation Clean Sweep, a global movement, make a promise that they will implement systems that will reduce the loss of plastic granules and play their part in the protection of water. This movement, which is completely voluntary, also allows companies to prove their environmental sensitivity. The fact that Sapro Cleaning Products, one of the world's largest manufacturers of wet wipes and cleaning products, was the first company from our country to join this international movement was also a very meaningful and valuable achievement in terms of compliance with the objectives of the project. PAGEV prepared Operation Clean Sweep Manual, which is a comprehensive guide on the measures that can be put into practice, as well as various information materials.”
Stating that they are happy to be a part of the OCS movement, Sapro Temizlik Ürünleri Sanayi ve Tic. A.Ş. Quality Director Barbaros Sert said; "As a global company in the wet wipes sector, we are aware of our responsibility towards our environment and other lives. When the managers responsible for the Environment and Quality Department of one of our customers, which owns one of the largest supermarket chains in the UK, asked us whether we would like to participate in OCS in Turkiye by PAGEV, we told them that we would be pleased to do so. With the certificate we received today, we are happy to be the first link of this chain in Turkiye."
